Source: National team star’s contract terminated – returns to the League!
Latvian national team forward Oskars Batna, 30, continues his career in the Liiga.
Batna, who previously represented Jukurit for nearly three seasons and moved to Mountfield in the Czech league in 2024, has had his contract with the Czech club terminated. According to the Hokej website, Batna’s new address is Lahden Pelicans.
– He received a good offer and a promise of more playing time in Finland, so we understand his decision, Mountfield’s club manager Aleš Kmoníček explained the termination of the contract at Batna’s request.
Having played in six World Championships during his career, Batna played 19 games in the Czech top league at the beginning of the season with modest stats of 2+0. Batna’s most recent Liiga season 2023-24 was a successful one. The forward scored 38 points with 20 goals and 18 assists in 59 games for Jukurit.
The Pelicans had not yet confirmed Batna’s transfer by Sunday evening.
