The Swedish newspaper NSD reports that Oulu’s Kärpät star forward Ben Tardif is on the verge of leaving.

According to NSD, Kärpät is in negotiations with the SHL club Luleå regarding Tardif’s transfer. Both Tardif and Kärpät are open to finding a solution.

Tardif is said to have requested a transfer away from Kärpät. The forward sees Luleå as a good option for his career. Tardif is even reported to be willing to compromise on his salary to facilitate the transfer.

According to NSD, Kärpät initially proposed a trade to Luleå, but the Swedish club did not agree. Kärpät’s next proposal was a seven-figure (in crowns) compensation, but the answer to this was also “no.” The parties are still exploring a solution.

According to the website Hockeynews.se, Örebro is also interested in Tardif’s services.

Kärpät’s sports director Kimmo Kapanen admitted in an interview with NSD that the Oulu club has received several calls regarding Tardif. He did not comment further on the matter.

Tardif has played the last three seasons in the Liiga. In addition to Kärpät, he has played one season with KooKoo. This season, the Canadian has recorded 14 points in 20 games with 10 goals and 4 assists.
