Ilves is set to receive a familiar reinforcement for next season’s team. According to Expressen, Swedish defenseman Leo Lööf, who has played in North America for the past few years, is returning to Ilves for the next season.

Lööf, 23, is a 3rd round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues from 2020. He has spent three seasons with the club’s farm team, the Springfield Thunderbirds. This season, Lööf has recorded 46 games with stats of 2+4.

Lööf has not played a single game in the NHL during his career. In the AHL, he has accumulated a total of 167 games. Lööf’s contract ends after this season.

Lööf previously represented Ilves for two seasons before signing an NHL contract. He played 103 regular season games (8+18=26) and 22 playoff games (1+4) in the Liiga during the 2021-23 seasons. Lööf won bronze with Ilves in both of his seasons.
