The Pelicans announced on Friday that they have terminated the contract of American forward A.J. Vanderbeck.
Expressen reports that Vanderbeck is moving to Sweden. According to the newspaper, Vanderbeck’s new team is Södertälje SK, which plays in the Allsvenskan.
Vanderbeck, 28, joined the Pelicans from Kalmar HC in November. He recorded 11 points in 22 games in the Liiga, with a score of 7+4=11. Vanderbeck started strongly in Finland, but his performance declined towards the end.
In the early part of the season, Vanderbeck scored 15 points in 18 games in the Allsvenskan, with a tally of 7+8=15. Last season, he racked up an impressive 63 points in 51 games in the league.
