Forward David Tomasek, acquired by the Edmonton Oilers for this season, is returning to Europe.
According to the Swedish Värmlands Folkblad, Tomasek’s NHL contract will be terminated after the Christmas break, after which he will rejoin the SHL team Färjestad. According to the newspaper, the Czech player has already traveled back to Sweden.
Tomasek played 22 games in the NHL this season, recording 5 points with 3 goals and 2 assists.
The forward represented Färjestad in the SHL for the past two seasons and was the league’s top scorer last season. He won the scoring title with 57 points from 24 goals and 33 assists in 47 games. Throughout his career, Tomasek has also played in the Liiga for JYP.
Last summer, Tomasek signed a one-year NHL contract with Edmonton worth 1.2 million dollars.
