SM-liiga announced the licensing decision of Imatran Ketterä
The Finnish Ice Hockey League states on its website that Imatran Ketterä has not been granted a league license.
The licensing committee rejected Ketterä’s application because, according to the committee, the conditions were not sufficient for playing league hockey.
According to the statement, Ketterä submitted a plan to the licensing committee in which the total capacity of the Imatra ice hall would gradually increase from the current 800 seats and 1300 spectator capacity to 4000 spectators by the 2028–29 season.
– Exceptions can be granted, but only in special cases and not without a particularly compelling reason. A condition for an exception is that the club must present a realistic plan to rectify the situation, the statement explains.
– No concrete funding for the development project was presented, and there are no decisions regarding public funding, the statement continues.
The licensing committee justifies its rejection of the application because it is not possible to organize match events in accordance with the criteria set by the League, the financial calculations for the upcoming season are based on implausible or unfounded assumptions, and the club has payment default records and debts.
