SK: NHL superstar wants to play for this Liiga team – with one condition
The NHL’s recent Stanley Cup winner Seth Jarvis has been vacationing in Finland this summer as well, in Pori, which is also the hometown of his good friend Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who plays for the Canadian Carolina Hurricanes.
Jarvis, one of the key players for the Hurricanes, was spotted during his trip to Finland at a baseball game, among other places. The talented player, who has fallen in love with Finland and Pori, even went so far in his praise of Finland during an interview with Satakunnan Kansan to make quite a promise.
– If there is a lockout season in the NHL, I will come play for Ässät, Jarvis declared.
– And you will play for free then, Kotkaniemi quipped from the side.
Jarvis would be quite a super reinforcement for the Liiga level. Last season, he racked up impressive stats of 32+24=66 in the regular season.
However, the Canadian does not need to travel to Finland with his hockey gear anytime soon due to the NHL lockout. The current collective bargaining agreement for the league runs until 2030.
