Ässät is currently seeking reinforcements for their offense after Danick Martel left the club in December.

No suitable replacement has been found yet, despite negotiations, for the Canadian who moved to the Slovak league.

– A lot of work has been done on this matter. A few reinforcements have fallen through because the current club has changed its mind and has not let the player go. One reinforcement would have required a trade, but we did not have a suitable player to go the other way, sports director Jarno Kultanen tells Satakunnan Kansalle.

One of the rumored forward acquisitions is the World Championship gold medalist Leo Komarov, 38, who last represented Ässät in the 2005-06 season. Komarov, who has been without a club for the entire season, has expressed interest in returning to the rink if it were with a team that has realistic chances of success.

According to Kultanen, however, Ässät is not interested in signing Komarov for a depth forward role.

– His name has not come up beyond coffee table discussions. We are not interested in signing him, Kultanen cuts the wings off the transfer rumors.
