Pekka Jormakka’s brief visit to the Slovak league has come to an end. HKM Zvolen confirmed on Thursday that the Finnish veteran will not continue with the team after a two-week trial period.

The 36-year-old forward managed to play six games for the club and recorded one assist. Now Zvolen has opened up about the reasons for the end of the collaboration in its own statement.

The club justifies the lack of a contract extension by Jormakka’s performances.

– The experienced Finnish forward’s trial contract ended today. Since he was unable to bring the desired effectiveness to the team’s offense with his performances, the collaboration was ultimately not continued, the club stated in its announcement.

This justification gives a different picture of the departure than Jormakka’s comments published on Wednesday. The Finnish forward told Atleetille that Zvolen offered him an extension, but he decided to return to Finland.

– The children need their father. An extension was offered here, but no. Now the chasing after money is over! Jormakka said.

According to Jormakka, family and value conflicts with the club weighed heavily in his decision to return. He also spoke about differences in work culture and the club’s way of handling matters. He believes that even a higher salary would not have changed his decision to leave.

Jormakka mentioned that he intends to share more about his experiences in Slovakia once he has left the country.

Zvolen’s statement did not comment on Jormakka’s reported contract offer or the value conflicts he raised.

Jormakka is now looking for a team in Finland closer to his home.
