Last night in the NHL game between the Winnipeg Jets and the Vegas Golden Knights, a frightening situation occurred. The crowd fell silent in the Jets’ home arena for a moment when defender Haydn Fleury was injured in a scary way.

Defender Fleury was skating at speed towards the puck in his own zone when Vegas forward Keegan Kolesar pushed him from behind. Fleury fell to the ice and slid forcefully into the boards. The back of the defender’s head hit the boards first.

Fleury lay motionless on the ice, and the crowd immediately understood that the situation was serious. He was eventually carried off on a stretcher and taken to the hospital. As Fleury left the ice, the audience showed their support by applauding while standing.

– Winnipeg Jets defender Haydn Fleury has been transported to the hospital by ambulance. He was fully conscious and moving his limbs as he left. The team will provide more information as we receive it, Winnipeg stated in a press release.

You can watch the collision involving Fleury below.
