SaiPa went on a raid – A familiar Liiga center for Raimo Helminen caught!
SaiPa has signed a one-year contract with center Aarne Intonen. The 24-year-old Intonen moves to the Lappeenranta team from Rauman Lukko.
In the recently concluded season, Intonen played 50 regular season games with Lukko, scoring 5+9=14 points, and four playoff games with 0+1=1 points. Throughout his Liiga career, the 182 cm tall and 91 kg heavy center has played 261 regular season games with a total of 40+67=107 points.
Intonen’s player path traces back to Turku, as he is a product of TuTo. He represented TPS from 2019 to 2025 and established his place at the Liiga level within the club. He is familiar to SaiPa’s head coach Raimo Helminen from TPS’s final spring of 2020–21, when he made his breakthrough to the adult level.
– Aarne is a promising two-way center who has already shown in his performances that he can play in the league. The best years of his career are surely still ahead; we see a lot of potential for building the game, SaiPa’s sports director Harri Aho commented in a statement.
