Ilves announced on Tuesday changes in their goaltending department.

The club reports that Roope Taponen will move on loan for the remainder of the season to the Swiss league’s top team, Davos. Davos leads the Swiss league with a 14-point gap over second-placed Fribourg.

– Our two active goaltenders have shared the playing minutes quite evenly, and we also have Jimi Kuivila available as a third goaltender for the remainder of the season, who can also play for Ilves U20. We have now found a solution for Taponen for the rest of the season that serves the player and fits the situation of both clubs, Ilves’ sports director Timo Koskela commented in the announcement.

Taponen, 24, joined Ilves for this season from HIFK, where the goaltender played 26 regular-season games last season. However, he has only been responsible for the net in six games this season.

Additionally, Taponen has played one game on loan at Kiekko-Espoo and with Ketterä in the Mestis league.
