Ilves announces that it has mutually agreed to terminate the contract of goalkeeper Roope Taponen, which would have covered the next season.
Taponen, 25, joined Ilves a year ago on a two-year contract, but he fell into a minor role at the club right from his first contract year. Taponen ultimately played only six matches for Ilves with a save percentage of 84.3.
During the past season, Taponen also played on loan at several clubs. He made one appearance with Kiekko-Espoo, one match in Mestis with Ketterä, and one game in Switzerland with HC Davos. Taponen moved on loan to Davos for the remainder of the season at the beginning of March.
Before the past season, Taponen represented HIFK in the Liiga.
