Raimo Helminen got the opponent’s coach under the spell of laughter: “It’s Vertti”
SaiPa defeated Kiekko-Espoo in Saturday’s Liiga round with a score of 4-1. At the same time, SaiPa extended its winning streak to three games, while Kiekko-Espoo’s corresponding streak was broken.
In the post-match press conference, SaiPa’s 18-year-old defender Vertti Svensk came into the spotlight. When SaiPa’s head coach Raimo Helminen was asked what kind of player Vertti Svensk is, Raipe succinctly replied with a chuckle:
– Well, he is Vertti.
Kiekko-Espoo’s head coach Jyrki Aho also burst into laughter immediately at Helminen’s comment.
– Yes, he is buzzing around there, Helminen continued, as the event host praised Svensk.
Aho’s laughter seemed endless. He told Helminen at the end of the event that “well said”.
Playing his first Liiga matches, Svensk has appeared in 12 games for SaiPa this season with stats of 0+1. His plus/minus rating shows +1.
