Quick twist: The fresh extension contract of the SaiPa prospect has been terminated!
SaiPa announces that Czech forward Richard Zemlicka, 20, has had his player contract for the upcoming season terminated by mutual agreement. Zemlicka will continue his career abroad.
The news is surprising, as SaiPa only announced a month ago that they had signed an extension with Zemlicka for the next season.
– In discussions with Zemlicka, we decided to terminate his contract, which was valid for the upcoming season, commented sports director Harri Aho.
Zemlicka played in SaiPa’s organization for three seasons. Last season, he played 17 games for SaiPa’s U20 team, scoring 6+10=16 points, and two games in the Liiga team without any points.
Last December, Zemlicka moved for the remainder of the season to the USHL team Youngstown Phantoms, where he played 29 regular season games with 6+6=12 points and four playoff games with 1+0.
