Olli Palola made his debut – was hit straight into the top chain
Olli Palola, who arrived with a short-term contract, will make his debut in the Tampere team on Friday in the league’s bottom clash against HIFK.
The 37-year-old goal scorer will immediately get a chance in a real top line, as Palola replaces the injured Carl Klingberg alongside Matic Török and Lukas Jasek. Of the duo, Török has scored 5+7=12 points in 11 games, while Jasek has produced 2+8=10 in the same time frame.
Ilves and HIFK will meet on Friday in Tampere and again on Saturday in Helsinki. For the two major clubs stuck at the bottom of the standings, back-to-back games are extremely important for the results, as Ilves has lost its last two league games while HIFK’s losing streak has already stretched to three matches.
On Friday, the visiting team HIFK received more bad news earlier in the day, as it announced that star forward Sebastian Revon will be sidelined until February. The return of top center Jori Lehterä to the rink will also be delayed as the star forward recovers from surgery.
