NHL: cold winds blew for six Finns – even the man with 448 games was not spared
NHL’s Sunday roster decisions sent six Finnish players to the waiver list. The most surprising name is Boston Bruins defenseman Henri Jokiharju.
Jokiharju, 27, has played 448 regular season games in the NHL. Last season, he recorded 15 points (2 goals and 13 assists) in 41 games with Boston. His contract burdens the Bruins’ salary cap by three million dollars per season.
From the Vegas Golden Knights, defensemen Ville Heinola and Antti Tuomisto were placed on waivers. Also among the defensemen are Juuso Välimäki from the Carolina Hurricanes and Topias Vilén from the New Jersey Devils.
The only goaltender in the group is Kaapo Kähkönen, representing the Montreal Canadiens.
