The Philadelphia Flyers seem to have an alternative plan ready if the Anaheim Ducks decide to respond to the offer sheet made for Leo Carlsson.

According to The Athletic reporter Aaron Portzline, the Flyers could next turn their attention to Columbus Blue Jackets’ 21-year-old restricted free center Adam Fantilli if the acquisition of Carlsson does not materialize.

– It has been speculated that if Philadelphia fails in the offer sheet for Leo Carlsson, the next target could be another 21-year-old restricted free center, Columbus’s Adam Fantilli.

Portzline also highlighted an unusual detail related to the situation.

– Let’s talk about an awkward situation. The Flyers’ GM Danny Briere‘s son Cam Briere works as a video coach for Columbus and collaborates closely with Rick Bowness (head coach).

The offer sheet made by the Flyers for Carlsson is a five-year contract with an annual salary of 18 million dollars. If it goes through, it would make the 21-year-old Swedish forward the highest-paid player in the NHL.

Carlsson has accepted the offer, and the Anaheim Ducks have one week to decide whether to respond to the offer sheet or not. If the Ducks do not respond to the offer, Carlsson will move to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for four first-round draft picks.
