The Winnipeg Jets have signed a long and lucrative extension with forward Gabriel Vilardi, 25.
The Jets and Vilardi avoided arbitration and agreed to a six-year contract worth 45 million dollars on Saturday night, which guarantees the 191-centimeter forward an average annual salary of 7.5 million dollars.
Vilardi is coming off the most productive season of his career in the NHL. The Canadian scored 61 points in 71 regular-season games with a high of 27 goals and 34 assists. In nine playoff games, he recorded 4 points with 1 goal and 3 assists.
Vilardi, who has represented the Jets for two seasons, is the 11th overall pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 2017 draft.
