NHL: A brilliant news echoed: Finnish talent was paired with a superstar
The Toronto Maple Leafs open the NHL regular season in the early hours of Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens.
The meeting of blood rivals is also the first official battle for Finnish forward Matias Maccelli, who was traded from Utah to Toronto last summer, in a Maple Leafs jersey.
There has now been joyful news from Toronto regarding Maccelli, as the skilled forward has been elevated to the Leafs’ top line alongside superstar Auston Matthews. On the left side of the line, young Matthew Knies will be attacking.
The match is highly interesting from a Finnish perspective, as Oliver Kapanen will start the season in the Canadiens’ second line, centered by super prospect Ivan Demidov and Alex Newhook. Patrik Laine, on the other hand, received harsh news a couple of days ago. The goal scorer will start the season in the Canadiens’ fourth line alongside Jake Evans and Josh Anderson.
