The Finnish ice hockey national team preparing for the Olympics received reassuring news from North America on Wednesday.

Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice revealed to the media that the injury suffered by Finnish defenseman Niko Mikkola is not serious and that he will return to the playing lineup in the reigning Stanley Cup champion’s next game.

This news is very happy for Finns, as the already thin defensive lineup is currently missing Rasmus Ristolainen and Olli Määttä.

The 29-year-old Mikkola has played 48 NHL games this season, with stats of 1+7=8.

The Lions’ Olympic campaign will begin on February 11.
