Nearly 500 League games champion moves to Mestis: “Knows what it takes to win”
Defender Roni Sevänen, 30, moves to Mestis. Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat announces that they have made a contract with Sevänen for the remainder of the season.
Sevänen represented TPS in the Liiga for the last two seasons. He also started this season with TPS, but did not get any playing time at the club. TPS announced at the end of October that they had terminated Sevänen’s contract.
In the Liiga, Sevänen has represented not only TPS but also Lukko and Ässät, playing a total of 452 regular season games (19+62=81) and 31 playoff games (1+2). Sevänen won the Finnish championship with Lukko in the spring of 2021.
– There are currently interesting changes happening in Finnish ice hockey. I wanted to join a team where there is a chance to play games in the spring that really matter, Sevänen commented in Kiekko-Pojat’s announcement.
– Roni is a professional who knows what it takes to win. He has high standards and gives his all in every practice and game. This acquisition for the team is an important piece considering the spring and our goals, says Kiekko-Poikien manager Jaakko Lipponen.
Sevänen will be seen in the Kiekko-Pojat jersey already this week, as the team faces TUTO on Friday and Nokian Pyry on Saturday.
