MTV: The team aiming for the league strengthens with a returning player – last time they had top performance!
The Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat, aiming for the league next season, is strengthening with a familiar name.
According to MTV Urheilu, JoKP has signed a contract for the remainder of the season with Czech forward Denis Kusyn, 28.
Kusy last represented Kiekko-Pojat in the 2022-23 season, where he recorded strong stats of 24+28=52 points in 49 regular season games, placing eighth in the Mestis scoring list. In the playoffs, he scored 3+3 points in ten games.
This season, Kusy has played in his home country’s top league with Mountfield HK, but his results have been underwhelming. In 30 games, he has achieved 2+3 points.
In the previous two seasons, Kusy played in the Czech Republic for Rytiri Kladno, where his teammate included Jaromir Jagr.
Kiekko-Pojat, currently third in Mestis, is seeking a Liiga spot for next season if sporting success allows it. The team must win the Mestis championship or reach the finals against Jokers.
