Veteran forward Leo Komarov, 38, who represented HIFK for the last two seasons, is continuing his career.

Komarov’s agent Ilkka Larva revealed on Tuesday to MTV Sports that his client is looking abroad.

– Abroad is the top option. That’s what we’re looking at. There is nothing noteworthy so far. He hasn’t had any strong urge to leave yet, as he has family and other commitments, Larva says.

Komarov played 39 regular season games for HIFK last season, scoring 6+13=19 points. The experienced forward has been rumored to be linked to Pelicans and Ässät since last season.

Pelicans’ sports director Janne Laukkanen admits to having negotiations with Komarov.

– Yes, we have had discussions with Komarov’s representatives, inquired about his situation. At this point, it’s good to note that we are asking about quite a few other players’ situations as well, Laukkanen says to MTV Sports.

– Komarov is a player with a Pelicans background, so of course he interests us, the Pelicans director continues.

However, Laukkanen also confirmed that the Pelicans team is currently set for the 2025-26 season.

– This is what we have for the team. We will react if necessary if injuries or other situations arise, Laukkanen explains.
