The hottest name in the NHL’s summer transfer market, Mitch Marner, has been traded in the NHL.

Toronto Maple Leafs superstar is moving to the Vegas Golden Knights. In return, Toronto will receive forward Nicolas Roy from Vegas.

At the same time, Marner has signed an eight-year, lucrative $96 million deal. This fresh deal guarantees Marner $12 million in seasonal earnings.

Marner, 28, has represented Toronto throughout his NHL career. He was about to become a free agent. Last season, Marner set a personal record with 102 points (27+75=102) in 81 regular-season games, ranking fifth in the scoring race. In the playoffs, he scored 13 points (2+11=13) in 13 games.

Roy, 28, played six seasons with Vegas, winning the Stanley Cup with the team in 2023. Last season, he recorded 31 points (15+16=31) in 71 regular-season games and 4 points (2+2) in 11 playoff games. His $3 million per season contract is valid until 2027.
