Markus Granlund hints to NHLWAMI: this Liiga team he still wants to play for
In the NHL, Markus Granlund, 32, who has played 335 regular season games in his career, currently earns his salary in the Swiss league with Geneve-Servette.
Granlund admits in the final episode of the Swiss season of the NHL Without a Map series that playing in the domestic league is not yet realistic at this stage of his career.
– It’s true financially, but of course my friends and parents live in Finland as well. It would be nice to get back home at some point and enjoy life there, Granlund admits.
Granlund’s contract with Geneve-Servette, which has established him as a key player in Switzerland, expires in the spring of 2028. After that, a return to the domestic league is highly likely. A team option has already been considered.
– Yes, it has actually always been my goal to play for IFK during my career, Granlund reveals.
Granlund has played 42 games this season with stats of 18+24=42. The center is currently his team’s leading scorer.
