Lukko’s long-time powerhouse is leaving – here is the new team: “I wanted to try something new”
Familiar from Lukko’s attack, Antoine Morand is heading towards new challenges. The Czech top league team BK Mladá Boleslav announced on Wednesday that they have signed a contract with the 27-year-old Canadian forward.
Morand spent the last four seasons in Finland and became a consistent point scorer in the Liiga. However, the forward felt it was time for a change.
– After the season ended, I took some time to think about where I would like to play next year. I am still young and believe that I have many quality playing years ahead of me. I spent the last four years in Finland, and now I wanted to try something new, the 27-year-old Morand explained his move.
The Canadian also represented SaiPa in the Liiga, recording 115 points with 38 goals and 77 assists in 229 regular season games.
In the recently concluded season, the forward collected 29 points with 10 goals and 19 assists in 53 games for Lukko.
Next season, Mladá Boleslav will see other familiar names from the Liiga. Former Lukko forward Pavol Skalicky and Aleksi Rekonen, who has played over 300 Liiga games in his career, will also represent the Czech club in the upcoming season.
