llves-vahti Roope Taponen: loan to a new Liiga club!
Ilves informs that they have loaned goalkeeper Roope Taponen to Ässät with a contract that is valid until further notice, which includes Ilves’ option to recall Taponen if necessary.
Taponen, 24, has played only six games for Ilves this season with a save percentage of 84.3. Additionally, he played one loan game in January for Kiekko-Espoo. For the last three seasons, Taponen represented HIFK.
– The loaning of Roope Taponen became relevant due to the absence of Jan Bednar and Pyry Lammi representing the U18 national team. Thanks to Ilves for making this happen, Ässät’s sports director Jarno Kultanen commented in the club’s announcement.
Taponen has remained in the role of third goalkeeper at Ilves, as Dominik Pavlat and Mantas Armalis have taken on the responsibility of saves. At Ässät, Taponen will now form a goalkeeper duo with Filip Lindberg.
