Lion’s World Championship gold hero: departure passes came – rumors take him to the League!
Defender Niklas Friman is leaving the Swiss top league club HC Ajoie, reports the local Radio RFJ radio station.
The 32-year-old Friman moved to Switzerland for this season after serving as the captain of Ilves for two seasons. The season in Switzerland was difficult for the Finnish defender: he scored only three points (1+2) in 31 games.
Iltalehti reported earlier this year that Friman is returning to the Liiga next season with TPS.
TPS is a familiar club for Friman, as he made his SM-liiga debut with the Turku team in the 2011–2012 season. Throughout his career, he has also played for HPK, JYP, Ilves, and Jokerit in the KHL. Additionally, he has played a season in Sweden with Brynäs.
Friman was part of the Finnish men’s national ice hockey team that won both Olympic gold and the world championship in 2022.
