Kiekko-Espoo’s top prospect forward Oscar Hemming, 17, continues his career in the Canadian junior league OHL.

The OHL team Kitchener Rangers announces that they have signed a contract with Hemming. The head coach of the Rangers is Jussi Ahokas, who is pursuing his NHL dream.

Last season, Hemming played for Kiekko-Espoo’s U18 and U20 teams. He recorded 63 points (35+28) in 31 games in the U18 SM series and 10 points (2+8) in 18 games in the U20 SM series.

This season, Hemming has scored 7 points (5+2) in six games while wearing the Finnish U18 national team jersey.

The publication dubbed as the hockey bible, The Hockey News, listed Hemming as the top prospect in Finland for the 2026 NHL Draft in August. The magazine estimates that the 194 cm forward’s name will be called at pick 21 in the draft.

Oscar Hemming’s older brother Emil Hemming is the 1st round (29th overall) pick of the Dallas Stars from the summer of 2024.
