Leijonat defender leaving the NHL – here is the new address: “Contract already ready”
This season, the career of Lassi Thomson, who returned to the Ottawa Senators NHL organization from the SHL, is coming to an end at least after this season.
Thomson, 25, who was a regular member of the Lions at the EHT last season, has played the entire current season in the AHL instead of the NHL. According to Expressen, Thomson is now turning his attention back to European leagues.
According to the Swedish newspaper, the former first-round draft pick of the Senators is moving to the Lugano team in the Swiss league for next season. The newspaper’s reporter Johan Svensson states that the parties already have a preliminary agreement for Thomson’s move to Switzerland for next season.
It is also reported that Thomson’s last season’s team, Malmö Redhawks, has been interested in him. However, the SHL club will be left empty-handed in the bidding for the Finnish player’s services.
This season, Thomson has collected 15 (96) points in 35 games played with the AHL’s Belleville Senators. The defender played his last NHL game in the 2022-23 season.
