Leevi Teissala found a new team!
Finnish forward Leevi Teissala is moving to the UK’s top league EIHL for the next season. Sheffield Steelers have made a one-year contract with Teissala.
Teissala, 25, started last season in the Liiga with TPS, playing 40 games with a score of 3+15=18. In February, he moved for the remainder of the season to Allsvenskan with Södertälje SK, where he played nine regular-season games with a score of 1+0 and 14 playoff games with a score of 1+1.
– Leevi is a hardworking and competitive winger who plays at a high pace and is not afraid to participate in all aspects of the game. He has valuable experience in the Liiga and has achieved very good stats there as a young player, commented Steelers’ head coach Aaron Fox in the club’s statement.
– I believe that Leevi plays a strong two-way game and can create offense with his speed and skill. He has excellent hands and is at his best in motion, where he can make plays and create scoring opportunities. Leevi is at a good age in his career, and I think he has the potential to be a top-level scorer for us, Fox continues.
Earlier in his career, Teissala has represented HIFK in addition to TPS in the Liiga. He has played a total of 173 regular-season games in the Liiga (21+41=62) and 22 playoff games (4+2).
