KooKoo star made his choice – jumps to HIFK’s camp!
Helsinki IFK has strengthened its defense with a new player. The club has signed a two-year contract with 24-year-old Jesper Ahlroth.
Ahlroth moves to HIFK from KooKoo, where he had a strong season. He scored 21 points in 57 regular season games and was one of the team’s key defenders. At the end of the season, he was part of the team that won silver.
HIFK’s head coach Olli Jokinen sees Ahlroth as an important addition to the team.
– He is a very talented player and has taken good steps over the past couple of years in Kouvola. Jesper is very diligent and works hard. He is good at getting out from under pressure and also produced a decent amount of points last season, almost all of which were even-strength.
Ahlroth describes himself as a modern defender.
– I am a modern defender of today. I can create plays in both directions. I strive to defend diligently and take care of my own responsibilities first, but I am also happy to help in the offensive zone, Ahlroth describes himself as a player in HIFK’s press release.
Jokinen states that the player was secured early on.
– He was locked in very early. He was one of those players we wanted to get well ahead of time before others noticed him.
