KooKoo acquired a powerful Swedish forward who has made an impact.
KooKoo, which finished second in the SM-liiga, announces a strong player acquisition.
Swedish forward Axel Holmström, 29, returns to the Liiga after playing last season in the Czech Republic with Litvínov. He scored 6+6 points in 26 games in the Extraliga.
Before last season, Holmström played in the Liiga for Vaasan Sport, where he recorded 42 points (17+25) in the regular season the previous year.
Holmström represented the eagle jersey for four seasons, with point totals of 21, 40, 37, and 42.
Holmström’s contract with the Kouvola team covers the next two seasons.
KooKoo’s sports director Antti Tuomenoksa commented on the acquisition in a press release.
– Axel perfectly complements our center line for the upcoming two seasons. He has a good ability to read and pace the game, and he is also strong in battles both near the boards and in front of the net. Axel has already shown in previous seasons in the Liiga that he can produce points as well.
