Three-time Finnish champion found a new team in the League!
HPK announces that it has signed a contract with goalkeeper Tomi Karhunen for the period of 18.12.2025-6.1.2026. Karhunen will complement HPK’s goalkeeper department while Kim Saarinen is with the Young Lions.
Karhunen, 36, has not played anywhere this season yet. Last season, he played 35 games for Kärpät with a save percentage of 88.2.
In the league, Karhunen has represented HIFK, Pelicans, and Tappara in addition to Kärpät. He has won three Finnish championships, two with Kärpät and one with Tappara. In the league, Karhunen has played a total of 220 regular season games and 49 playoff games.
The experienced Karhunen has also played in KHL, Sweden, Switzerland, and Germany during his career.
Karhunen will join HPK’s training squad immediately today, Thursday.
