Kiekkopomo: Liiga teams are after a super reinforcement – “They have wanted it almost from the beginning”
The name of Djurgården’s Finnish defender Valtteri Pulli, 24, has emerged in transfer rumors.
The Swedish site HockeyNews.se reports that Djurgården currently has surplus forwards and defenders that the club would like to offload. The Swedish club already sent defender Jakob Ragnarsson on loan to HIFK in October.
Now Pulli has also been raised as a possible departure. The 198-centimeter tall defensive giant has played only 14 games this season with points of 1+3.
Djurgården’s sports director Niklas Wikegård reveals that there have been many inquiries from Finland.
– There are clubs in Finland that have wanted Pulli almost from the start. We think he is great. Of course, it hurt him and someone else when we acquired Oliver (Kylington). But this is elite sports, and we always think about what is best for Djurgården, Wikegård says to HockeyNews.
Alongside Pulli, Hugo Blixt or August Berg are also possible departures from the club’s defense. Of this trio, Pulli’s salary is clearly the highest, so he is most likely to be the first to go.
Pulli has previously played in the Liiga for TPS. He moved from the Turku club to the San Jose Sharks organization, where he played for two seasons in the AHL. The defensive giant continued his journey last season to the Swiss top league in Lugano and from there to Djurgården for this season.
