Imatran Ketterä will not play in the League next season. The Sports Legal Protection Board has rejected Ketterä’s appeal regarding the license application for the League for the 2026-27 season.

The License Committee rejected Ketterä’s license application in May, but Ketterä appealed the decision in June to the Sports Legal Protection Board. However, the original decision of the License Committee remains in effect, so Ketterä will not be seen in the League next season.

– The Legal Protection Board stated in its decision regarding the conditions for granting a league license that the League License Committee had not acted contrary to the applicable rules or exceeded its discretion in deciding not to grant Ketterä a league license for the 2026–2027 season. The Legal Protection Board also found that it had not been demonstrated that Ketterä had not been treated equally in the decision-making regarding the granting of the league license. The decision of the League License Committee could not be considered indisputably contrary to competition law either. Ketterä’s appeal was rejected, the Legal Protection Board’s statement reads.

The League season starts with 17 teams on September 1.
