Kärpät secured a 4-3 shootout victory over KooKoo on Saturday. Despite the two points, the head coach of the Oulu team, Petri Karjalainen, was upset in the post-match press conference.

Kärpät played two matches over the weekend. On Friday, the game started in Jyväskylä at 7:30 PM and on Saturday in Oulu at 5:00 PM. After the bus trip, there was hardly any time left for recovery.

– Who the hell thinks about this? This is not in anyone’s interest: neither the players’ nor the game’s. This is just survival. Then we get fancy and say we have a fair schedule. I don’t know where that is, Karjalainen charged.

– If we can send a dog to the moon these days, one would think that there could be some sense in the match schedules. This affects something every weekend. We play two games within 19 hours and drive 700 kilometers by bus. I don’t understand.
