Oulu Kärpät announces that it has terminated the contract of Canadian forward Ben Tardif.

According to the Oulu club, the initiative to terminate the contract came from the player.

– We have been discussing the situation with Ben for a while, and as a club, we feel this is the best solution for both parties. We are losing a good player, but at the same time, we have the opportunity to build a more balanced team – now and in the future, says Kärpät’s sports director Kimmo Kapanen in the statement.

Tardif played a total of 80 Liiga games for Kärpät over two seasons. Before that, he played for one season with KooKoo.

– I want to thank the organization, fans, and players for the support I have received while being in Oulu. I wish all the best for Kärpät, the Canadian forward says in the statement.

According to Expressen, Tardif’s next destination would be the SHL club Luleå. It has been reported that Kärpät will receive a compensation of 100,000 euros for the transfer.
