Kärpät signed a center with over 300 Liiga matches: “Due to injuries, we needed reinforcement”
Kärpät has signed a contract for the remainder of the season with forward Kasperi Ojantakanen. The player will join the team immediately.
Ojantakanen, 30, represented Ässät for the last two seasons. Last season, he recorded 1+3 points in 41 regular season games and 2+1 points in ten playoff games.
Before his years in Pori, Ojantakanen played five seasons with KooKoo. In the league, he has played a total of 348 regular season games (30+60=90) and 35 playoff games (8+8=16) over seven seasons.
– The busy weeks are approaching, and due to injuries, we needed reinforcement in the center position. We found a player in Kasperi who brings a lot of experience, including in penalty killing. It’s great that we were able to get him into the team on such short notice!, said Kärpät’s sports director Kimmo Kapanen in the club’s announcement.
Kärpät will have Ojantakanen in their roster for Wednesday’s away game against Sport in Vaasa.
