JYP has loaned goalkeeper Veeti Louhivaara, 19, for the remainder of the season to a North American junior league.

Louhivaara has played this season in the Mestis league for JYP’s partner team KeuPa HT, in addition to playing for JYP’s U20 team.

Louhivaara has a valid player contract with JYP until the 2026–27 season, so he will return to JYP next season.

– Veeti has had a great season as the goalkeeper for JYP’s U20 team and at KeuPa. Now, the end-of-season contract in the North American junior league ensures that Louhivaara will get enough tough games to continue developing as a player, sports director Simo Mälkiä states in JYP’s announcement.

– Louhivaara has a great opportunity to play the rest of the season abroad. We are very pleased that such an opportunity was found for him for the end of the season, Mälkiä sees.

Louhivaara was drafted into the NHL by the New Jersey Devils in the 5th round in 2024. The goalkeeper is also a familiar name from the youth national teams of the Lions.
