Jymypaukku: Miikka Salomäki returns to the League!
The league’s last season silver medal team SaiPa announced a significant transfer bomb on Friday.
The Lappeenranta club announced on its website that it has signed a one-year contract with forward Miikka Salomäki, 32, who has played 167 games in the NHL.
Salomäki, who won silver with the Lions at the World Championships in the spring of 2014, played last season for the Czech top league team Sparta Prague, where “The Bull” scored 3+5=8 points in 24 regular season games. He produced 0+1 in 12 playoff games.
– We are very happy to have an experienced player like The Bull join SaiPa. It’s great that he chose SaiPa as his team from the SM-liiga. He is a versatile and hardworking forward who fits excellently into the team’s playing style as a strong grinder, commented SaiPa’s sports director Harri Aho in SaiPa’s press release.
– We were looking for a profile signing for the top, and we are very satisfied with this agreement, Aho continues.
Salomäki played his last full Liiga season with Kärpät in the 2012-13 season. After that, he played two games with HIFK in the 2021-22 season.
