Jukurit: next season’s coaching team revealed!
The coaching team for Mikkelin Jukurit for the 2026-27 league season is now confirmed.
Jukurit announced back in October that they had exercised the option in head coach Jonne Virtanen‘s contract for next season. Now the club also reports that assistant coaches Jesse Welling and Jukka Ahvenjärvi will continue with one-year contracts.
The team’s goaltending coach Mika Järvinen also has a valid contract for next season. Thus, Jukurit’s coaching staff will remain unchanged for the upcoming season.
– Welling and Ahvenjärvi have done a great job in everyday situations and they complement the coaching team well with their skills. The collaboration with Jonne works and results have been achieved. Our coaching team has the right mix of experience, modern perspectives, and above all, the ability to develop players in their daily routines. The extensions for Welling and Ahvenjärvi bring important continuity, Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen states in the club’s announcement.
Jukurit is currently ninth in the league, having collected 37 points from 27 games.
