MTV’s ice hockey expert Juhamatti Aaltonen unleashes harsh criticism of his former team’s struggles in the Liiga.
The northern powerhouse, repeatedly missing the playoffs, has seriously lost its recipe for success from previous years.
Aaltonen listed the reasons behind Kärpät’s collapse during a live broadcast.
– It’s about the level of expectations from the coaching staff and the leading players. I’ve seen this season where there are constant big mistakes, but there are no consequences for them at all.
– If the same guys keep making the same mistakes, it should show up somewhere, Aaltonen criticizes.
Kärpät’s star forward Aku Räty admits that the joy of playing has been tested this season.
– It has been pretty disappointing. I’m really frustrated. A bad season. It has often been really tough to leave the arena and go home, Kärpät’s golden helmet remarked about the past season on Friday to Ilta-Sanomat.
Räty’s contract with Kärpät continues next season.
– Now we need to go through this properly so it doesn’t happen again. Hopefully, we can make good acquisitions for the next season. That’s where it starts, Räty advises the club management.
Kärpät’s season ends on Tuesday with an away game against Sport.
