Joona Luoto made his choice – new team confirmed
Forward Joona Luoto, also known from the Lions, continues his career next in the Swiss league.
It is reported that the 28-year-old winger, also sought by Tappara, has signed a contract with EHC Kloten. Luoto’s contract initially runs until the end of November, but it includes an option for the remainder of the season.
The Swiss league is a familiar series for the two-time Finnish champion, as Luoto represented Bern before moving to SHL’s HV71, which he played for the past two seasons.
– Our team is getting a physically strong player who is visible on the ice, has a good shot, and is particularly strong near the goal. He already knows the Swiss league and is capable of helping us right away, sports director Ricardo Schödler commented in a statement from the Swiss club.
Luoto last played in the Liiga during the 2021-22 season, when he was named the most valuable player of the playoffs. That season ended with his second Finnish championship with Tappara.
