Jokerit made a splash again: snatched a strong prospect from a competitor’s ranks
Jokerit has signed a two-year contract with Emil Kuusla.
According to the sports director of the Helsinki club, Olli-Pekka Yrjänheikki, the 21-year-old Jokerit product has taken significant steps in his development at SaiPa.
– Emil’s first season in the league showed that he is capable of making amazing and surprising performances, which were also seen during his junior years. It warms my heart to have him back at Jokerit, the club’s sports director rejoices in the announcement.
Kuusla also sees that the season elsewhere brought a lot of important learning.
– When I left, I hoped that one day I would get to play in the league wearing a Jokerit jersey. Now that opportunity has come. Jokerit means a lot to me. It is my youth club, and I will always have a joker heart, Kuusla praises.
In the past season, Kuusla appeared in 49 regular season games for SaiPa, scoring 7+20=27 points. In the playoffs, he recorded six (2+4) points in nine games.
