Jokerit has made a two-year contract with Canadian forward Maxime Fortier.

Fortier, 28, represented SaiPa this season. He scored an impressive 29+37=66 points in 58 regular season games, placing third in the league’s scoring chart. In the playoffs, Fortier scored two goals in nine games. Fortier won bronze with SaiPa at the end of the season.

Before moving to SaiPa, Fortier had played in Europe in Sweden’s Allsvenskan, Switzerland’s NL, and the multinational ICEHL league.

– We expect Max to be one of our top scorers. His individual skills bring a lot of entertainment value to the games, and he is a player who can ignite the audience in an instant, says Jokerit’s sports director Olli-Pekka Yrjänheikki in the club’s statement.

– Expectations for next season will be high, as all eyes are on us. But that’s the most exciting part. We have the pressure to succeed, but we also have a great team. The season is going to be very exciting, Fortier predicts.
