On Saturday’s SM league round, the focus was particularly on whether the crisis clubs HIFK and Jokerit from Helsinki would find their footing, and whether KooKoo would finally get their first win.

None of this happened, as both HIFK and Jokerit lost again, and KooKoo lost their eighth game.

At least HIFK and KooKoo fought for points, but especially for the Jokers, Saturday’s round was sorrowful.

The away fans’ section emptied during the third period when Kiekko-Espoo led 4–0. The goal by the Jokers to make it 4–1 was a poor consolation.

The Jokers have only one win out of eight games. The pressure on head coach Tomek Valtosta is increasing, as Joker fans are calling for his dismissal.

Pelicans and HIFK started the third period with a scoreless tie, but the Lahti team managed to score two goals around the halfway point of the period. HIFK came within one goal at 57:26, but could not equalize. The team has only won two games out of eight.

KooKoo, on the other hand, fought back to equalize from two goals down against Jukurit, but the Mikkeli team ultimately won 5–3 in an away game and rose to the top of the standings. Jukurit has played three more games than JYP. KooKoo’s season has been disappointing, as the team is struggling at the bottom with only one point.
