Kiekko-Espoo defeated the league bottom team KooKoo in Wednesday night’s match with a score of 4–2.

KooKoo arrived in Espoo after playing against Tappara yesterday, while the home team had rested for three full days since their last match.

– I definitely don’t want to hide behind that. I’ve heard it, as everyone takes turns crying. The schedule is set and we go with that, KooKoo’s head coach Kai Suikkanen commented on the opponent’s rest advantage after the match.

Kiekko-Espoo started the match sharply. They scored two goals in the first five minutes.

– The first period was very poor for us, even substandard. At that point, the coach has to take responsibility for why the team wasn’t ready, Suikkanen says.

– The losses we’ve taken have all come by a goal. We’ve always fought for the win or at least to catch up. I guess that’s the next step we need to take and be able to turn those matches around. It won’t just happen with a snap of the fingers; we have to work for it, Suikkanen continued about KooKoo’s previous matches.

Suikkanen says the atmosphere in KooKoo’s locker room is currently in a good place.

– Very good, even surprisingly good, everyone is holding their heads high. I can say I’m even surprised that it’s this good.

KooKoo continues its season on Saturday in Kouvola against Jokerit.
