Helsinki IFK has relieved Olli Jokinen of his duties as head coach. The club’s new head coach is Tommi Miettinen, 50.

Miettinen will take command of HIFK immediately. His contract runs until the end of the current season.

– The decision to change the coaching staff is based entirely on sports performance. The team’s play has not developed sufficiently, which is why our league position does not meet our goals. I had to make a decision before the gaps to other teams became too large, sports director Janne Laukkanen explains his decision.

The coaching staff of HIFK is also undergoing a complete overhaul. In addition to Jokinen, assistant coaches Mika Hyvärinen and Anders Carlsson, as well as goalkeeper coach Riku Helenius, are leaving their positions.

Miettinen’s new coaching staff will be announced later.
